| My Darling - Hello you! You're a student at Yale arn't you ? Well, if in your travels around the campus you should happen upon a very determined fellow named Bostick, tell him I love him, will you? Tell him I love him so much - and with the proper tone of reverence in your voice. --. Thanks, Pal ! Now at the risk of losing you- here are the pictures of Peggy. She's the one on the extreme left in both pictures, wearing a hat. Couldn't get any of her alone but these are pretty good. Once again - and for the last time - I promise - it would make me so happy if something could be arranged even if it meant only one enjoyable Sunday for her. Oh yes - about 5' 5 1/2 " - blue eyes, brown hair - intelligent - poised - sense of humor and Just plain swell! Got a letter today from a girl I haven't seen in years. On receiving such a letter, like seeing an old, almost forgotten face - the effect is curious and powerful. All the confusion and agony of those days returns in a flood. The old trapped, drowning feeling of " no way out" -. The constant, everyday almost unbelievable longing to " belong " - and nothing in all the world was truly mine -. So Louise was one of the people with whom I had nothing in common - but to whom I clung feverishly just so I could call her " friend" -. She hasn't changed at all- as I know she wouldn't- but it was good hearing from her again. I am reminded once again what a lucky little girl I am - I have you and through you a future filled with things good for my heart and good for my mind. We're going to be rich - in fact, we're fabulously wealthy already. Hope you are well, my darling. I'm not, - missing you much too much to be entirely well - . There is really little to tell you, but I am always reluctant to put my pen away. It's too much like leaving you as I did last Sunday. But I suppose , I must. So Good Night - I love you ! Your Emily! |
